Social Media Marketing: The New King in Digital Marketing Strategy
The internet is an ever-changing landscape. Within the past 5 years alone, we have seen an incredible explosion of traffic that has all but abandoned traditional desktop and laptop platforms in favor of mobile devices. In fact, it is estimated by most internet authorities that over 80% of internet traffic is now being funneled through mobile devices.
With this in mind, it is no wonder that the age of the old standbys of digital marketing such as SEO are falling by the wayside. Instead, there has been an increased reliance on methodologies that tap into the mobile mindset of today’s internet users – which means social media marketing is primed for a massive takeover in the world of digital marketing.
This is not to say that some of the old rules don’t apply anymore. SEO is still a viable strategy for those who can afford it. However, most businesses that want to market online are finding that they get the most bang for their buck by switching gears to social media marketing (SMM) strategies. Why is this? The answer is very simple: It all has almost everything to do with content. Bill Gates famously said that content is king – and that adage is still applicable today – however, it is the type of content that has changed, along with the way that it is digested.
Gone are the days when you could write copious amounts of copy on a web page and stuff it a million times with the keywords that you wanted Google to rank you for. Those were the Wild West days of SEO and digital marketing – and much like the tales of Wyatt Earp and Billy the Kid, they are but distant memories of a bygone era.
No one is sitting hunched in front of their screens anymore to read that content anyway! The sad truth is this: unless you are writing comments and tags, giving likes, posting videos, or posting photos on social media, no one really cares. So why am I even bothering to write this? Because the people that read it are the smart ones like you that are looking for answers to why their online marketing efforts are failing. Besides, we are on LinkedIn right now, which is – you guessed it – a social media platform!
By now, you’re probably cursing the fact that nothing ever stays the same, but this is the nature of the beast. So, what is an enterprising business owner like yourself supposed to do to keep abreast of all of the most effective and up-to-date digital marketing strategies? How are you supposed to promote your business effectively with SMM while simultaneously running your business? You could crack a book open or take some courses online – however, learning is only half the battle. You then have to employ the methodologies that you’ve learned and manage your social media accounts on a daily basis. Most business owners do not have the time or energy to simultaneously juggle their business responsibilities and marketing efforts. That leaves one option: hire someone else to do it for you.
Don’t get me wrong, finding the right person to work for you is not exactly easy either. However, it is possible to find companies that deliver consistent results to turbocharge your business and give you the peace of mind that it is being handled by experts that care about your success just as much as their own. Don’t just take my word for it – I’d be willing to bet that, if you looked really hard, you could find a link somewhere on this page that would take you right to the experts you need that will deliver guaranteed results.
